The 2024 Solterra offers more advanced safety features and premium upgrades at a lower MSRP than the 2024 Toyota bZ4X4. The 2024 Solterra has features the 2024 Toyota bZ4X doesn’t offer like standard DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System5 and standard EyeSight® Driver Assist Technologies6 with Traffic Jam Assist and Lane Change Assist.
Even though the 2024 Solterra is an EV, it's still a Subaru, so it mirrors its rugged siblings by offering standard all-wheel drive and enough capability to tackle some light off-roading. Its styling may not appeal to everyone, but it blends the look of other Subies with a taste of Toyota bZ4X, with which it shares its platform. Like its Toyota twin, the Solterra's interior is roomy for four adults and there's a good amount of cargo space. A host of driver-assistance features are standard, too. A dual-motor powertrain with 215 horsepower provides adequate acceleration, but the Solterra's driving range is unimpressive at only 227 miles per charge at best. Rival EV SUVs such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Tesla Model Y can take you further before their batteries deplete.
